And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

I asked for strength—
and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for wisdom—
and God gave me problems to solve.

I asked for prosperity—
and God gave me brain and brawn to work.

I asked for courage—
and God gave me dangers to overcome.

I asked for love—
and God gave me opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted—
I received everything I needed.

My prayer has been answered.

Mission of Saint Paul Community Church

Ephesians 4:13-15

This ministry is for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children , tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

When Christ returned to glory, He left His church on earth to be His witness. He endowed her with power to be both salt and light. Though she was met with vehement opposition she stood in the face of adversity for the cause of His gospel. In America we do not find this same church. Her desire not to offend has left her nothing more than a compromising religious institution to which shall most assuredly meet with His pending judgment. Maybe then she will return and do His will.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

The church has been and always will be persecuted. Everyone watches us. If we die in faith, hope, and love, it can change the history of nations. If we fail to stand in love and hope for our faith, nations often can reject Christ.

FAVORITE QUOTE OF PASTOR SAMUEL LAMB—A CHINESE HOUSE-CHURCH PASTOR WHO HAS SPENT TWENTY YEARS IN PRISON FOR HIS FAITH

Thomas Hauker, a bright, well-favored, good-looking young gentleman, would not deny his personal relationship with Christ. For this he was sentenced to die at the stake. Days before his execution, Thomas’s friends came to his English prison cell. One said, “I’ve heard that God gives a special grace to those who die in the fire that enables them to bear the flames. For your sake, that I might be able to bear this cruelty to you, can you give us some sign of it? Without knowing this, I don’t believe I can bear that day.”

Thomas thought for a moment. “If the rage of pain can be tolerated, before I die I will lift up my hands to heaven as an indication.”
On the day of execution, the crowd was abuzz with Thomas’s promise. As he was chained to the stake, he spoke quietly and with great grace to the men who laid the wood. Then he closed his eyes and the fire was kindled. Thomas continued to preach to those around him, but soon, for the roar of the flames, he could not. All were sure he had died. Suddenly, his hands rose above his head to his God and, with praise and thanksgiving, clapped together three times. A shout arose in the crowd, and Thomas sank into the fire and gave up his spirit.

“I can’t take it anymore.” How often we catch ourselves expressing frustration at the least little trial. A crying child. A stuck doorknob. A late-night project deadline. However, the story of the martyrs haunts our petty thoughts when we are tempted to give up under pressure. We often overstate our problems and underestimate our ability to bear up under them. In fact, God promises he will not allow anything into our lives that will be more than we can endure. Thomas, hands upraised in worship, signaling his triumph over the flames, is evidence enough. When you think you can’t take much more of a certain situation, remember Thomas. And remember God’s faithfulness. He knows exactly what you can and cannot take. vom-extreme.devotion Dec 10.2008

A VIETNAMESE CHRISTIAN PASTOR IMPRISONED FOR HIS FAITH

A martyr is, he who has become the instrument of God, who has lost his will in the will of God, not lost it but found it, for he has found freedom in submission to God. The martyr no longer desires anything for himself, not even the glory of martyrdom. T.S. ELLIOT—MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL

“O most merciful Christ,” John Huss wrote while awaiting his execution, “give us a courageous spirit, so that it may be ready. And if the flesh is weak, may your grace go before it, for without you we can do nothing, and above all, without you we cannot face a cruel death. Give us a bold courage and upright faith, a firm hope, and perfect charity, that we may give our life for you in all patience and all joy. Amen.”

During the last war we were taught that, in order to obtain our objective, we had to be willing to be expendable. . . . We know that there is only one answer when our country demands that we share in the price of freedom—yet when the Lord Jesus asks us to pay the price for world evangelization, we often answer without a word. We cannot go. We say it costs too much. . . . Missionaries constantly face expendability.... NATE SAINT, A MISSIONARY MARTYRED IN THE ECUADORIAN JUNGLE IN 1956

Courage- Fuel For The Believers Life

Courage is the bridge that carries us from a nominal existence on earth to an inexplicable longing for a heavenly future. Those who fully understand the certainty of heaven’s existence find it easier to exchange their comparably paltry lives on earth for eternal citizenship in heaven. Courage helps us to let go of all we cling to on earth—all the things that make us long to stay here. It takes courage to believe in a life after death. After all, life on earth is all we really know until the moment we die. We are courageous when we launch out in faith, believing Christ has made it possible for us to cross into eternity with him. Once we have made that firm decision, we can face life with purpose and death with courage.

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Barto was on the brink of starvation. Once a Communist Party official and prosecuting attorney, he was now considered expendable by the same party. He was sentenced to labor in a Romanian prison camp. His stomach, once full, was now wasting away. He wondered how much longer he could go on.

Seeing Barto’s frail stature, a fellow prisoner came up to him and offered to share his rations of food.

“Thank you, my friend,” he said to the other prisoner. “How long must you be here?” Barto asked as he woofed down the food.

“Twenty years,” replied the prisoner. His eyes seemed to question Barto.

“What crime did you commit?”

“I was tried and sentenced for giving food to a fugitive pastor who was being chased by the police,” the man stated calmly. Barto noticed his voice didn’t carry bitterness like Barto had heard from so many others.

“Who gave you such a harsh punishment for doing a good deed?” demanded Barto.

The prisoner replied humbly, “Sir, you were the state prosecutor at my trial. You don’t recognize me now, but I remember you.”
The man went on. “I am a Christian. Christ taught us to reward evil with good. I wished then for you to realize that it is right and good to give food to a hungry man—even your enemy. Now, I can show you.” Barto began that day to understand that his own spiritual needs far outweighed his physical ones.

Kindness is the way to our enemies’ hearts. And it may do something for their souls. God uses kindness as his strategy of choice when dealing with us. Instead of giving us exactly what we deserve for our offenses against him, he deals with us kindly. His kindness is an example of how we should fashion our own approach to those who offend us. Kindness arrests their attention. It is as unexpected as it is undeserved. Like Barto, our kindness toward an enemy may awaken a spiritual hunger for the source of our compassion. However, regardless of their response, we must follow the example of our Lord when dealing with our enemies. Who needs your kindness today?

"There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution. In China, the Christians were told, "Don't worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured." Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly, "We have failed. We should have made the people strong for persecution rather than telling them Jesus would come first. Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the tribulation comes – to stand and not faint."  Corrie Ten Boom

Prayer Request Updated

April 02, 2010

Jesus once said that the Kingdom is taken by violent men - men who understand that in order to love as He loves, to walk where He goes, we must live out all the courage, all the ferocity, all the passion and desire He has given us in our hearts (Psalm 139).

The lives of the persecuted witness this passion, through sharing in the sufferings of Christ. Christian author Ken Gire once wrote that "to us has been given the greatest of all songs to sing. It is not important that we sing it professionally, with great polish, but that we sing it passionately, with great heart."

This is the story of our lives, as well as the persecuted around the world. We sing to the tune of Grace. We dance to the rhythm of the real life offered to us by Jesus. We join him as his Intimate Allies, as his Friends, being let in on the secrets and treasures of the Kingdom. That is why your prayers on behalf of the persecuted around the world is so crucial, so needed, so desired. Thank you!

A Word From Malachi

May God send prophets and pastors that hear the "voice of God" and are "bold" to speak the truth of God without wavering. I heard a dear brother in Christ tell me recently: "You must bring the people to the Cross or they will crucify you!" How true! There are uncrucified "Judas" in every fellowship.

"We need a baptism of clear seeing. We desperately need seers who can see through the mist--Christian leaders with prophetic vision. Unless they come soon it will be too late for this generation. And if they do come we will no doubt crucify a few of them in the name of our worldly orthodoxy."        ---A.W. Tozer

SOME SAY THE CHURCH IS 'ALIVE AND WELL' IN AMERICA TODAY?

The church in Laodica saw themselves as 'alive and well' yet her Lord saw her in quite a different light.....

Delusion -- an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. Revelation 3: 17-18

Isaiah 56:10-12 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, everyone for his own gain, from his quarter. Come ye, say they, and I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

'LIVING IN THE MIDST OF A CULTURAL COLLAPSE'

In Daniel Quinn's book, 'The Story of B' [1996 novel], Quinn uses the phrase “cultural collapse” to describe the point of history that we are living through today. He believes that circumstances have rendered the cultural mythology of the takers (those who rape and pillage our society) meaningless to its people. When this happens to a culture, Quinn states, things fall apart. "Order and purpose are replaced by chaos and bewilderment. People lose the will to live, become listless, become violent, become suicidal, and take to drink, drugs, and crime... laws, customs and institutions fall into disuse and disrespect, especially among the young, who see that even their elders can no longer make sense of them." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Story_of_B

This acknowledgement of Quinn's writing is not an endorsement of his thought process.

It is Quinn's opinion that this cultural collapse does not occur over night, it is very slow and subtle, liken to his analogy of the proverbial frog slowly and gradually being boiled to death.

"If you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will of course frantically try to clamber out. But if you place it gently in a pot of tepid water and turn the heat on low, it will float there quite placidly. As the water gradually heats up, the frog will sink into a tranquil stupor, exactly like one of us in a hot bath, and before long, with a smile on its face, it will unresistingly allow itself to be boiled to death"...

Although Quinn's writings and thoughts have no biblical foundation, one must agree with his assessment that we are seeing a 'cultural collapse' in America today. This cultural collapse that we are in the midst of are the results of a crumbling that began nearly one half century ago. The cracking and crumbling of a spiritual foundation has left us in an awful condition today.

When the spiritual foundation of a nation crumbles, it has far reaching affects... the entire nation, both the people and the land suffers. The condition is not only a digressive one, but very subtle and persistent. The blame therefore rest squarely upon the people of God... the church.

When those that are placed in a spiritual leadership role (pastors and teachers), do not see that spiritual light (TRUTH) is disseminated among the populace, the people (church) divert from the straight and narrow way and began to bask in error and are left to satisfy nothing more than one's own flesh.

When the people of God (church) have no spiritual direction (LIGHT) the nation is left to the influences of the spirit of darkness, and he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth (cf. John 12:35).

When a nation forgets God and turns their back on His Word, He withholds His blessing, and a people and a land void of God’s blessing is a nation most miserable and without hope.

What we are seeing in America today is a 'wily enemy' that is taking full advantage of this spiritual vulnerability.

Another Christian Fired for Upholding Biblical Convictions

Monday, 29 March 2010 16:41

Marcia Walden was an employee counselor with the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. A lesbian employee approached Walden for relationship counseling, but Walden referred the woman to another counselor because she felt her Christian faith conflicted with the woman’s sinful lifestyle. Walden’s directors told her not mention her moral objections to homosexuality when referring patients, but Walden refused to be dishonest.

After the lesbian complained that she felt Walden judged and condemned her, Walden was fired. So Walden sued the CDC claiming she was the victim of religious discrimination, the case is now on appeal.

Walden’s situation is one more example of Christians being denied the right to live and work according to their religious convictions because of they refuse to sanction immoral sexual behavior. We cannot sit by as Christians lose their jobs for upholding their Biblical convictions.

Alan Glasow said "temptation  usually comes through a door that has deliberately left open". Church, it is time to close the door. We are in a spiritual warfare and we must heed the word of God...

Ephesians 6:10-18...Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints...
